Dubai’s Digital Silk Road modernizes trade with Hyperledger Fabric

Avanza Innovation was engaged to help Dubai implement the Digital Silk Road — a government initiative to create a trusted, real-time network for trade data that simplifies import/export, eliminates paperwork, and unifies registrations across multiple authorities. To deliver on these goals Avanza chose the Hyperledger platform, using Hyperledger Fabric as the underlying blockchain framework to meet the permissioned-network, security, and smart-contract requirements.

Using Hyperledger Fabric, Avanza built the Unification of Trade Registration and Export Authorization projects to provide a single-window registration, instant data replication across Dubai trade authorities, and paperless, encrypted export workflows. The solution went live in January 2020 and delivered real-time updates, reduced transaction times, closed data gaps between agencies, and created a scalable foundation for broader Digital Silk Road expansion — all enabled by Hyperledger.
