Dubai cuts trade paperwork and 45-day payment reconciliation with Hyperledger

Dubai, a major city-state in the UAE, faced challenges with its complex, paper-based international trade processes, which were slow, fragmented, and lacked transparency. As part of its ambitious Dubai 10X initiative, the government sought to modernize trade and create a trusted digital network. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Hyperledger and its open-source blockchain framework, Hyperledger Fabric, to build the Digital Silk Road platform.

The solution implemented by Hyperledger, through its partner Avanza Innovations, involved creating two foundational blockchain projects: Unification of Trade Registration and Export Authorization. These provided a secure, single-window interface for registration and enabled real-time, paperless data sharing across all government entities. The results included streamlined processes, eliminated paperwork, and a scalable system. This established a solid foundation for Dubai's digital marketplace, positioning it as a leading global trade hub.
