Circulor traces 150 million batteries with Hyperledger Fabric

Circulor, a leader in supply chain traceability, faced the challenge of helping battery manufacturers comply with stringent new EU regulations requiring proof of sustainable and ethical sourcing. Their goal was to create a system that could guarantee data integrity from the mining of raw materials through the entire battery lifecycle, all while balancing transparency with the need for data confidentiality among various stakeholders. To meet this challenge, they partnered with vendor Hyperledger to build their solution on the Hyperledger Fabric platform.

Using Hyperledger Fabric, Circulor implemented a blockchain-based Battery Passport solution that creates a secure, immutable digital twin for materials, tracking them from origin to recycling. This solution has proven highly scalable, having already traced materials for over 150 million batteries and recorded over 2 billion data points. The results extend far beyond compliance, providing manufacturers with real-time proof of what they are buying, enabling highly targeted recalls, and offering valuable insights into material performance and carbon emissions.
