Bosch brings Perun to Hyperledger Labs, powering 2021’s top 10 most active project

Bosch, a global supplier of technology and services, faced the challenge of scaling blockchain transactions to support secure, high-frequency micropayments between IoT devices for its Economy of Things initiative. To overcome the limitations of blockchain technology, Bosch partnered with the vendor Hyperledger and leveraged its Hyperledger Labs environment to develop a solution using the Perun layer-2 protocol.

The solution implemented through Hyperledger involved building a blockchain-agnostic protocol that uses virtual state channels to process transactions off-chain, enabling micropayments to be settled in milliseconds. As a result, Perun became one of the top 10 most active projects in Hyperledger Labs in 2021. The protocol was successfully demoed running on multiple blockchains including Ethereum, Polkadot, and Cosmos, proving its capability to support payments with any cryptocurrency or future CBDC.
