A Hyperakt Case Study
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) had collected enormous amounts of public data on refugee displacements but struggled to communicate it effectively and reveal the stories behind the numbers. They invited the vendor Hyperakt to lead workshops on data visualization to address this challenge.
Hyperakt created an interactive digital experience called The Refugee Project to illuminate where and when refugees emigrate and the complex stories behind each displacement. The solution included data visualization, an interactive map, and historical context. The project achieved over 15 million page views, was featured in major museums like MoMA, and won prestigious awards, significantly increasing public understanding of global refugee crises.
