RWE Effizienz, a 2009 subsidiary of RWE (Germany’s second-largest electric utility), brings together 150 specialists to develop energy-efficiency products and services for private customers. Faced with rapid technological, political and market change — new legal requirements, rising ecological awareness, and competition from IT and telecom players — the company needed a systematic, company-wide way to capture and evaluate ideas with expertise spread across departments.

RWE Effizienz implemented a configurable HYPE idea-management platform with single sign-on and tailored workflows (classification, quick check, detailed assessment) managed by a five-person innovation team, integrating product ideas and a BVW improvement program. The system streamlined decision-making, boosted efficiency, and became a group reference that’s continuously adapted and expanded (campaigns and collaboration features planned), helping RWE maintain its recognized position among Europe’s most innovative energy providers.
