A HYPE Innovation Case Study
Linklaters, a global law firm of about 5,200 people across 31 offices in 21 countries, faced rapid disruption from remote working, shifting client expectations, talent and workforce changes, and entrenched practice silos. The firm needed a way to realign to an agile, digital workplace while breaking down local “cultures within cultures” to scale innovation across practices and geographies.
Linklaters created an Innovation & Efficiency team and launched the HYPE‑powered Ideas Pathway plus local Practice Innovation & Efficiency (PIE) teams to run campaigns, hackathons and design‑thinking challenges. The program engaged the whole firm (thousands of contributors), produced hundreds of implementable ideas (e.g., 43 ideas/250 comments in its first campaign, 81 best‑practice ideas from 649 contributors), and delivered measurable gains in process standardization, efficiency, service delivery and cultural change — while improving recruitment and opening the door to future client‑facing innovation services.
