Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS), a unit of The Boeing Co., delivers a wide range of defense, space and networking solutions, but its scale and decentralization made it difficult for managers to find the knowledge and analysis needed for smart decision‑making. The Analysis, Modeling, Simulation and Experimentation (AMSE) team set out to rapidly gather decision‑support needs from leaders across the organization.
AMSE ran a three‑week "Decision Makers" ideation event using Planbox’s Innovation Central, inviting 8,000 managers and receiving 2,908 responses (35% participation) that generated more than 300 ideas. The campaign produced clear insights into managers’ decision‑support needs; AMSE is now using those findings to develop tools and processes, and cites Innovation Central as an effective way to engage a large, diverse enterprise quickly.
