A HYPE Innovation Case Study
Fujitsu EMEIA, the European arm of the global ICT company, faced a challenge: customers knew Fujitsu invested heavily in R&D but didn’t feel that value at account level, while market pressures from low‑cost providers and new entrants threatened traditional relationships. Fujitsu needed a repeatable, customer‑centric way to connect clients with its global expertise and turn co‑creation into measurable business value.
The solution was Activ8 — an eight‑stage, cyclical co‑innovation service built around a core team, a trained practitioner network and the HYPE ideation platform. Activ8 combines in‑person design sessions, curated crowds of experts, structured evaluation and prototyping, and is embedded into bids as a continuous service. The program scaled across EMEIA, paid for the HYPE investment tenfold in year one, generated a direct pipeline of over £25m (supporting opportunities >£500m), and made innovation a measurable, integrated part of Fujitsu’s customer engagements.
