A HYPE Innovation Case Study
ConocoPhillips Alaska, the state’s largest crude oil producer (about 179,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2016), needed a consistent, purpose-built way to capture and manage employee ideas for margin improvement. Previously tracking suggestions in SharePoint, the Business Performance/Continuous Improvement teams sought a structured platform to run 6–8 campaigns per year across a 1,500+ employee and contractor community and to turn ad-hoc ideas into measurable savings.
Late in 2014 they selected HYPE and launched the Margin Improvement Site as a central portal for “Doing Business Better,” combining ideation, validation, dashboards and campaign management. The platform centralized KPIs, enabled weekly reviews and cross-functional sharing, and drove a measurable lift in submissions and adoption — documenting thousands of ideas and delivering millions of dollars in annual cash‑flow improvements while making progress toward annual margin goals transparent.
