E.ON achieves 2x invoice automation with Hypatos

E.ON, one of Europe's largest energy companies, faced significant challenges in automating its financial processes due to its highly complex corporate structure and operations across 30+ countries. With 500+ company codes and a 50/50 mix of PO and non-PO invoices, manual work and fragmented processes were capping automation success. They partnered with Hypatos to implement AI agents for invoice auto-posting, aiming to meet strict pre-defined KPI targets for automation rates.

Hypatos co-designed a custom data governance structure and deployed AI Agents within E.ON's SAP environment to handle end-to-end invoice processing. The solution expanded to include a Supplier Master Data Validation agent that cleaned duplicate records and automated dunning letters. This approach delivered a 2x boost in auto-posting, over 95% tax coding accuracy, 90% PO matching, and saved over two minutes per dunning letter processed, giving E.ON repeatable, in-house control over its automation.
