A Hyland Case Study
Stadtwerke Neuss, one of Germany’s largest municipal utilities (electricity, gas, district heating and water, ~700 employees), faced a slow, manual meter-replacement workflow: field agents submitted XML files that staff had to convert to Excel, filter for relevant readings and then create meter-change requests. This labor-intensive process was error-prone, delayed repairs, and led to inconsistent billing and reduced customer satisfaction.
Implementing Hyland RPA automated the end-to-end meter-change process—reading XMLs directly, extracting and validating data, registering meters, matching customers, testing readings and flagging anomalies—while accelerating late reports in real time. The scalable solution replaced five manual processes, saved up to 2,000 hours of labor per year, improved billing accuracy and customer experience, and included staff training on Hyland Designer, Analyst and Manager for continued automation.
