A Hyland Case Study
The City of North Ridgeville, Ohio, faced growing pains as steady new-home development overloaded its paper-based plan review process: multiple large drawing sets, inconsistent versions, crowded file cabinets, frequent in-person drop-offs and time-consuming phone inquiries. The city needed a modern, electronic way to manage plan submissions, reviews and markups to save time and budget while ensuring everyone worked from the latest documents.
Working with Kiriworks, North Ridgeville implemented Hyland’s OnBase ECM and Electronic Plan Review to scan existing plans, accept submissions through a web portal, send automatic status emails, and allow contractors to upload revisions and receive markups instantly. The change cut paper storage needs, sped review cycles, reduced phone traffic, gave inspectors and first responders tablet access to current plans in the field, and set the city up to expand online permitting and inspections for smaller projects.
