A Hyland Case Study
The National Gallery of Australia, Australia’s national art museum, needed a way to boost engagement with its collection while protecting fragile works and expanding access to the 98% of items that are never on display. To support its digital asset management goals, the Gallery sought a solution that could manage large volumes of content, reuse existing metadata, and deliver digital content to both in-person and online audiences, using Hyland’s Alfresco platform.
Hyland’s Alfresco platform, delivered through Lateral Minds’ Digital Media Centre, provided the Gallery with configurable workflows, integration with its existing collection system, and the ability to scale for 34 TB of current digital assets plus another 50 TB expected in the first 18 months. The result was a more efficient way to preserve, protect, and share the National Gallery of Australia’s collection, while creating lower-resolution and high-resolution derivatives for web, social, and print use.
