A Hyland Case Study
The Royal Marsden Hospital, a world-leading cancer centre founded in 1851, set out to eliminate paper and improve clinical and administrative workflows as part of a broader digital transformation. Recognising that a new EPR alone wouldn’t deliver a complete digital health record, the hospital needed to digitise paper‑heavy processes—starting with its Rapid Diagnostic and Assessment Centres and clinical trials—to improve patient care, data access and research readiness.
To address this, The Royal Marsden deployed Hyland Healthcare’s OnBase alongside its existing EPR, digitising documents, medical images and photography and linking them into a single, searchable view. The rollout has cut paper handling and lost records, sped clinician access to high‑resolution images at the point of care, streamlined admin workflows and freed researcher time, while positioning the trust for wider rollout across surgery and trials and a smoother transition to a future EPR.
