A Hyland Case Study
Skagit Regional Health, a not-for-profit system in Mt. Vernon, Washington with two hospitals and 19 clinics, faced an aging document management system that couldn’t keep up with growth. The legacy technology was cumbersome, required extensive manual intervention, lacked features such as color imaging, and didn’t integrate well with clinical systems—creating a need for a single enterprise content services solution to centralize patient information and reduce paper-based processes.
SRH implemented Hyland’s OnBase platform across its hospitals and clinics to centralize documents (images, faxes, labs, pharmacy orders), automate indexing and workflow routing, and integrate with Epic, Stryker, Philips and other systems. Hyland converted some 14 million legacy documents during two major migrations, enabling faster clinical access, streamlined admissions and remittance processes, stronger interoperability, avoided costly interfaces, and measurable reductions in manual work across the organization.
