A Hyland Case Study
The MetroHealth System, a comprehensive academic health system in Cleveland with an 861‑bed medical center, rehab and long‑term care facilities, outpatient centers and 17 locations, was hampered by paper‑based manual processes across departments despite having enterprise applications in place. These paper workflows slowed operations, created bottlenecks and limited timely access to critical clinical and administrative information, so MetroHealth sought a solution that would integrate with its existing systems.
After a competitive RFP, MetroHealth implemented OnBase by Hyland, an enterprise content management platform that integrates with Epic and Lawson to centralize, validate and associate information automatically. OnBase eliminated paper, automated workflows (routing invoices, approvals and patient registration documents), improved information access and compliance, sped the revenue cycle and boosted patient care—freeing HR time (about 80 hours/month), removing filing cabinets and reducing requisition approval times from weeks to days.
