Axxess International Inc., a Montreal-based freight forwarder and customs broker with nine branches and over 170 employees, faced growing pains during the pandemic as most staff shifted to remote work. With a very lean IT/help desk, shared on-premise servers, and paper-intensive customs processes, the company needed a cloud-first, easy-to-manage solution to improve integration, maintain continuity and support continued growth.

Axxess implemented Hyland’s OnBase, starting with an accounts-payable workflow and quickly expanding to U.S. and Canadian customs, traffic and brokerage release teams. The platform streamlined document-driven workflows, reduced paper handling, sped processing, improved customer and supplier interactions, and proved easy to adopt — prompting plans for further rollouts across ocean import and trucking divisions.
