Akamai, a leading content delivery network provider, needed to guarantee a flawless streaming experience for a media customer broadcasting a major football game to nearly 124 million viewers. Their challenge was the inability to analyze critical data in real-time; under peak load, their previous process took twenty minutes, which was far too slow to identify and mitigate performance or security issues before viewers were impacted. They required a solution to instantly visualize data to balance traffic and fix errors.

Akamai implemented its own managed observability service, TrafficPeak, which is powered by Hydrolix. This solution enabled the team to ingest nearly 11 million records per second and perform sub-second queries on 53 billion records. This real-time visibility allowed them to instantly identify and resolve errors, ensuring a smooth broadcast. As a result, they successfully managed 41 terabytes of raw data, storing it efficiently as 5.76 terabytes, and provided a superior, reliable viewing experience.
