Multinational Auto Manufacturer Implements a More Flexible Work Culture

Large Multinational Auto Manufacturing Company, a European-based multinational automotive manufacturer, faced an abrupt shift to remote work when COVID-10 forced it to close offices, showrooms, and manufacturing facilities. The company wanted to move to a more flexible work culture while protecting employee wellbeing, connection, and productivity, and turned to Humanyze and its Organizational Health Score™ workplace analytics platform to better understand the impact of the transition.

Humanyze helped the company analyze anonymized email and calendar data from one department over nine months, measuring engagement, productivity, adaptability, work-life balance, teamwork concentration, and cross-level connections. The results showed significant declines in work-life and collaboration metrics: employees were working about 3 more hours per day and 12 minutes more on weekends, 55% were averaging over 10-hour days by September, and meeting time rose to about 4.5 hours per day while emailing increased to nearly 1.5 hours. Humanyze’s insights also showed growing weak ties and improving organizational flatness, helping leadership identify targeted changes such as more one-on-ones, meeting-free time, and better collaboration tools.
