Online Learning Company Protects Against Carding and Digital Skimming

Online Learning Company, a leading education technology provider for preschool through second grade, faced a surge in bot-driven carding attacks during the pandemic as usage grew rapidly. The company also needed better visibility into third-party JavaScript and open-source libraries to prevent digital skimming and maintain CCPA, GDPR, and PCI compliance. HUMAN’s Application Protection was chosen to help address both issues.

HUMAN implemented Application Protection to combine transaction abuse defense, data contamination defense, and client-side defense, giving the company layered protection against bots and risky scripts. The solution now blocks malicious bot activity from an average of 26.5 million page views per month, saves tens of thousands of dollars in chargebacks, and eliminates nearly 100 hours of monthly manual data cleanup. HUMAN also identified 562 scripts across 28 source domains and blocked access to sensitive fields from two third-party scripts, helping the company reduce privacy risk and improve compliance.
