UNISON decentralises 800 branches with Human Made

UNISON, one of the UK's largest trade unions, faced the challenge of modernizing its digital presence to better serve its 1.3 million members across hundreds of local branches. They engaged the vendor Human Made for bespoke development and consultancy to decentralize their operations, improve member tracking, and enable branches to launch tailored subsites more effectively.

Human Made implemented a proof of concept for Active Directory integration and completely rebuilt UNISON's national website and multi-site network. The solution provided branches with flexible tools to create subsites quickly, improved accessibility to track user behavior, and migrated over 3,000 pages of content. As a result, UNISON gained the ability to better respond to member needs, and the project was commended with a TUC award for best digital member communications. Human Made also open-sourced several plugins developed during the project.
