Largest Multinational Credit Card Company - Customer Case Study

Largest Multinational Credit Card Company, a global payments provider operating in more than 200 countries and dominant across 26 Latin America/Caribbean markets, faced unreliable terrestrial links and rapidly growing data demands that would have required costly WAN upgrades. To maintain service continuity for its bank partners and avoid expensive infrastructure replacement, the company engaged Hughes Network Systems for managed satellite broadband services (Hughes Global Services) using the Hughes HX System as a primary backup and expansion option.

Hughes Network Systems implemented a fully managed satellite network connecting 116 banks to the company’s regional HQ, adding load balancing between satellite and terrestrial links and delivering WAN optimization, AES256 security and FIPS-capable hardware where required. The solution doubled available bandwidth, kept critical transaction and back-office services online during disasters (notably after the Haiti earthquake), provided 24/7 bilingual monitoring and sub‑4‑hour field support, and saved the customer hundreds of thousands of dollars in upgrade costs.
