Hughes Provides Network Redundancy over Satellite

Grupo Zema, a Brazil-based retailer with more than 440 Eletrozema stores across southern Brazil, needed reliable, fast and secure connectivity to process credit and debit transactions and keep stores operational when terrestrial links fail. Grupo Zema engaged Hughes Network Systems and implemented a Hughes VSAT managed network solution to provide satellite-based backup and nationwide coverage.

Hughes Network Systems deployed customer-premise satellite terminals linked to its NOC and network management system, delivering IP-based communications, automatic switchover via VRRP, and real-time monitoring. The Hughes solution covers 100% of Grupo Zema’s stores, ensured guaranteed operability with no loss of business during main-link failures, and provided high availability, fixed costs and fast implementation.
