United for Medical Research, a coalition dedicated to securing federal funding for the National Institutes of Health, faced the challenge of breaking through a competitive appropriations environment to advocate for sustained NIH budget increases. HudsonLake was engaged to lead a public affairs campaign to address this.

HudsonLake implemented a multi-faceted strategy combining data visualization from an annual economic impact analysis with personal stories from patients and researchers. This approach successfully positioned UMR as a credible voice on Capitol Hill. HudsonLake's work resulted in the economic data being viewed online over 150,000 times, cited in more than 100 news articles, and referenced by over 150 members of Congress in 2025.
