West Surrey Rugby Academy Tackles Hudl

West Surrey Rugby Academy, run in partnership with Chobham Rugby Club as a full-time development programme for 16–18 year olds in the British Colleges League, needed a way to motivate players, speed up post-match review and embed player-led analysis across coaching, S&C and physio as the Academy launched its first full cohort. To meet that need they adopted Hudl’s video-analysis platform to capture, clip and share match and training footage quickly.

Hudl enabled fast turnaround (games filmed Wednesday were available to watch by Thursday morning), simple clipping and playlisting, player access on phones, and tools for creating highlight reels — even helping the Academy get a red card rescinded — while S&C and the physio used video to assess position demands and injuries. Using Hudl improved player engagement and accountability through group-led video reviews, supported recruitment-ready highlight CVs, and helped the Academy sharpen weekly preparation, leaving West Surrey Rugby Academy better positioned to finish the season strongly.
