A Hudl Case Study
Portsmouth Football Club sought to modernize its academy and first-team development by giving players clearer feedback, ownership of their progress, and a consistent, process-driven approach to match analysis. To replace slow, ad-hoc clip sharing and better prepare U17–U21 players for first‑team football, the club adopted Hudl’s video analysis platform as the central tool for coaching, review and individual development.
Hudl was rolled out across squads with players using iPads/iPhones to access clips, weekly group reviews and personalized playlists; analysts upload games and Gamebreaker XMLs to deliver targeted feedback quickly. The switch to Hudl made sharing “100% easier,” saved analyst time (described as removing multiple manual tasks), increased player engagement and ownership, and improved feedback loops—helping staff identify committed players and accelerate development—with plans to expand Hudl’s use throughout the academy.
