A Hudl Case Study
The Boston Celtics needed a fast, reliable video workflow to support head coach Brad Stevens’ heavy use of game film and advanced analytics. Assistant video coordinator Matt Reynolds joined the organization with limited hands‑on video experience and faced the challenge of learning the team’s analysis platform and scaling pre‑, in‑ and post‑game film delivery for coaches and players. The Celtics rely on Hudl tools—specifically Sportscode—to power their tagging, coding and editing workflows.
Hudl’s Sportscode environment was configured with concise code windows (player, result, play type, play call) and integrated into the Celtics’ day‑to‑day routines to produce pre‑game edits, halftime clips and custom player packages. Using Hudl, the three‑person video staff logs opponent and self‑scout games, distributes a standard set of edits before and after every game, and feeds a comprehensive, daily‑updated database of advanced stats. The result: faster, more consistent delivery of actionable film and efficiency metrics, and a streamlined workflow that helped Matt Reynolds become a key member of Boston Celtics’ video staff.
