A Huawei Case Study
Phoenix Satellite Television, an international multimedia media group based in Hong Kong, needed to upgrade its data center LAN infrastructure to keep pace with growing HD video, VOD, and cloud computing demands. Its existing core LAN switches could not provide enough bandwidth, low latency, or the high reliability required for live news and global broadcast services, prompting the company to work with Huawei.
Huawei deployed X7 series LAN switches, including S9700 series Tbit/s-level core LAN switches, to enable a seamless network upgrade without interrupting services. The new architecture delivered higher bandwidth with support for 40 GE and 100 GE, doubled forwarding performance compared with the previous switches, and increased cluster bandwidth to 1,280 Gbit/s. As a result, Phoenix Satellite Television gained a more reliable, lower-latency network for HD production, live broadcasting, and smoother VOD delivery.
