Wuxi Lingshan, a ‘Smart’ Wi-Fi Scenic Area

The Lingshan committee, responsible for Wuxi Lingshan Scenic Area in Jiangsu Province, wanted to turn a popular tourist destination into a smarter, more connected experience. The area faced limited carrier Wi-Fi coverage due to challenging terrain, extra costs for visitors using wireless access, and practical issues such as finding parking spaces, locating cars, and navigating between scenic spots and shopping areas. Huawei provided a Commercial Wi-Fi System to address these needs.

Huawei deployed a pervasive wireless network across Lingshan, Nianhua Bay, the hotel, convention center, and shops, along with location services integrated with the scenic map and parking system. The solution enabled visitors to connect easily via Wi-Fi, receive navigation and parking assistance, and access promotions through the official WeChat account, supported by Big Data analytics for targeted marketing. The result was a “smart” Wi-Fi scenic area serving millions of visitors annually, including up to 100,000 on peak days, with free Internet access, improved wayfinding, and stronger merchant promotion capabilities.
