World’s First LTE Train-Ground Network

Zhengzhou City, a major transportation hub in central China, needed a more reliable train-ground wireless communications system to support its growing urban rail network. The city’s existing WLAN-based approach for passenger information and onboard video suffered from unstable data transmission, poor uplink capacity for live video, and high maintenance demands.

Huawei implemented an all-in-one LTE wireless communications solution for the Passenger Information System and train-mounted video surveillance. Huawei’s LTE network delivered about 20 Mbit/s downlink bandwidth, strong uplink performance for HD video, and wider coverage per radio unit, reducing deployment complexity and O&M costs while improving service quality, security response, and overall network stability.
