Wi-Fi Adds Services for Germany’s Largest Stadium

Germany’s Largest Stadium in Dortmund, home to Germany’s biggest sports club and an 80,645-seat venue, needed a way to support massive crowds while improving fan experiences and creating new revenue opportunities. The challenge was to deliver high-density, secure wireless access across a complex stadium environment for tens of thousands of visitors, staff, and service channels. Huawei provided the Wi-Fi and network foundation for the project.

Huawei implemented an agile, high-density WLAN solution with Wi-Fi 802.11n/802.11ac, MIMO beamforming, Auto Radio Frequency Tuning, HD Boost, directional antennas, PoE switching, NGFW security, and centralized policy control. The result was comprehensive coverage for over 80,000 visitors and 24,000 service channels, enabling better interactive services, mobile office capabilities, stronger security, and new advertising and business services. Huawei’s solution improved operational efficiency and expanded the stadium’s revenue opportunities.
