UPS Strengthens Airports’ Reliable Wings Provision

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, a major international airport in China, needed a more reliable and efficient power supply system for critical terminal equipment such as security check passages, boarding gates, and baggage conveyors. Its existing distributed mini-UPS setup was difficult to maintain, less energy efficient, and created operational risk if any unit failed. Huawei provided the UPS-5000E modular UPS solution to address these challenges.

Huawei implemented a regional centralized power supply architecture using the Huawei UPS5000-E modular UPS, replacing scattered small UPS units with a high-capacity, modular system. The solution improved reliability with N+X redundancy, reduced maintenance time through hot-swappable components, and cut the physical footprint by at least half. Huawei also delivered higher efficiency—95% at 20% load and 96% at 40% load versus about 90% for traditional UPS systems—helping the airport save electricity and support energy-saving goals.
