University’s Data Center Makes Campus Digital

Mackenzie Presbyterian University, one of Brazil’s oldest higher education institutions, needed to modernize its campus IT infrastructure to support digital learning, large-scale video storage, and easier file sharing. The university was struggling with siloed systems across more than 30 departments, low storage utilization, difficult maintenance, and limited space in its existing equipment room, while also needing a solution with a PUE below 1.6.

Huawei provided a one-stop solution using the IDS1000 Container Data Center and N8000 Clustered NAS Storage System. The container data center reduced PUE to 1.55 and cut energy use by 30%, while the unified storage system simplified management, improved scalability, and lowered TCO by 20%. Overall, Huawei’s solution reduced investment by about 40%, required little space, and preserved the historic campus buildings.
