A Huawei Case Study
Peking University faced growing campus network traffic and complex routing challenges as its legacy CERNET-based network was stretched by rising demand. To balance outgoing and incoming traffic, the university needed better link selection, redundancy, NAT support for applications like FTP and SIP, and a scalable, reliable edge solution. Huawei’s USG9500 firewall platform was deployed to help address these requirements.
With Huawei’s USG9500, Peking University upgraded to a distributed, high-performance network edge that supports policy-based routing, NAT ALG, and automatic failover. The solution improved both inbound and outbound access speeds, supported more than 90,000 connected computers and 25,000 peak-hour users, and handled 8G of bi-directional traffic while enhancing security and future scalability for IPv6 and network growth.
