UK Broadband Moves to eLTE Broadband Solution

UK Broadband, a subsidiary of PCCW Ltd., wanted to expand beyond data-only services and support enterprise and emergency communications needs in sectors such as government, airports, harbors, and rail. The company piloted a Huawei embedded eLTE broadband trunking solution to provide coverage for a 1 square mile area in London’s financial district, after considering and rejecting both OTT and TETRA options.

Huawei’s embedded eLTE solution was selected for its fast voice call setup, emergency call support, end-to-end encryption, direct mode operation, and better power efficiency. In the pilot, call setup times were under 300 ms, and the network drew strong interest from government, police, and municipal visitors. Following the success of the London trial, UK Broadband planned to extend eLTE coverage across the UK with Huawei.

UK Broadband
