Turkey’s YTU Leverages Huawei HPC Platform

Yildiz Technical University (YTU), a leading engineering university in Istanbul, needed an HPC platform to support finite element simulation, parallel computing, and growing research and teaching demands. Its existing single-server setup could not handle complex workloads, and the university wanted a solution that would be easier to maintain than fragmented, multi-vendor systems.

Huawei, working with SVR, implemented an HPC platform built on 256 Huawei RH2288 V2 rack servers, 10 RH5885 V3 GPU servers, OceanStor 18000 storage, Lustre parallel file system, Mellanox and Huawei switches, and Bright cluster management software. The result was a system delivering up to 90 TFLOPS of compute power and 300 TB of storage, improving research efficiency by 80%, cutting complex simulation time by more than 80%, and reducing maintenance costs by 30%.
