A Huawei Case Study
TrueVisions, Thailand’s leading cable and satellite TV operator owned by True Corporation, needed to expand its HDTV services and build a new media asset management (MAM) system to handle much larger storage and bandwidth demands. With HDTV content requiring up to five times more data than SD programming, TrueVisions sought a near-line storage platform that could deliver high read-write performance, scale to PB-level capacity, remain highly reliable, and integrate with upper-level asset management software. Huawei was selected as the vendor supporting this effort, with the Huawei S2600T proposed as part of the storage solution.
Huawei, working through system integrator ADT, implemented a “S2600T + StorNext” near-line storage solution for TrueVisions. In POC testing, the Huawei S2600T proved compatible with Quantum StorNext and Dayang D3 MAM software, delivering peak read-write bandwidth of up to 1.0 GB/s and supporting up to 1.1 PB of storage per system. TrueVisions ultimately deployed two Huawei S2600Ts, gaining a cost-effective, scalable storage foundation for phased HDTV growth, improved ROI, and support for more than 50 HDTV channels over the next two years.
