World’s Leading Railways Services Providing Company needed a highly reliable communications network for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong XRL, a cross-border high-speed rail project with complex tunnel and bridge environments, shared operations between Guangzhou Railway and MTR, interoperability requirements between different signaling vendors, and interference from nearby UMTS 900M systems. Huawei provided a GSM-R communications solution to support secure, efficient railway operations.

Huawei implemented system-level redundancy, separate Base Station Controllers for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Hong Kong sections, and interoperability connections between OSS/FAS systems to enable coordinated cross-border operations. Huawei also improved coverage and interference management through careful frequency planning and power reduction measures. The project delivered 99.999% network reliability, strengthened wireless dispatching and railway safety, and supported a railway line expected to boost Hong Kong’s economy by HK$87 billion over 50 years.
