The Editors, a Cologne-based film and TV post-production company, needed a more powerful storage environment to support fast-paced editing for live concerts, music videos, 4K HD, and 3D projects. Their older server storage was limited to 1 Gbit/s bandwidth and could not scale, creating bottlenecks that forced employees to use portable drives and slowed production. Huawei was selected, with the OceanStor S5500T identified as the best fit for the company’s performance, scalability, and TCO needs.

Huawei implemented the OceanStor S5500T with up to eight 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel interfaces and scalable capacity up to 1.5 PB, allowing multiple workstations to access source video simultaneously. The solution improved collaboration, simplified user and rights management through Huawei ISM software, and reduced operating costs by eliminating the need for full-time IT maintenance and additional software licenses. As a result, The Editors significantly increased productivity and avoided project delays, including a previous case where six extra days had been lost due to storage constraints.
