A Huawei Case Study
TF1, the French TV and media group, needed a more secure and cost-effective way to support its news operations as it expanded into digital and multi-platform content. Like many broadcasters, it faced the challenge of handling large video files, supporting compute-intensive editing and media management, and providing high-end tools for journalists without investing in expensive workstation-heavy infrastructure. Huawei provided the cloud computing foundation for this transition, including its Cloud Data Center and FusionCloud desktop approach.
Huawei implemented a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution that let TF1’s journalists access virtual PCs through thin clients, soft clients, and even smartphones. This centralized computing in the data center, reduced TF1’s shared-resource investment to 60 host computers for 150 users, and delivered smooth video playback with synchronized audio and video. Huawei’s solution also improved security by separating office tools and broadcast video tools into different virtual machines, while lowering costs and increasing flexibility for TF1’s LCI newsroom.
