Case Study: China National Petroleum Corporation achieves secure, stable WAN connectivity with Huawei

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the China National Petroleum Corporation Case Study

Stable and Secure Information Applications

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), a major integrated energy company and China’s main oil and gas producer, needed to modernize its nationwide WAN to support reliable end-to-end data transmission across production, OA, video conferencing, voice, and other business systems. CNPC also faced the challenge of redesigning a complex, large-scale network with future growth in mind, while ensuring security, stability, and resilience.

Huawei provided an efficient, unified IP-based WAN solution with a hierarchical tree structure, including dual-ring core/backbone redundancy, BFD and OAM for rapid fault recovery, and scalable high-capacity routers on a 400G platform. As a result, CNPC now has a secure and stable IT platform connecting headquarters, 12 regional centers, and more than 150 branches, with network capacity and bandwidth able to grow tens of times and service switchover as fast as 50 ms in point-to-point scenarios and 200 ms across the network.
