Somervale School gains 100% wireless coverage

Somervale School, a secondary school, needed to revamp its wireless infrastructure to achieve 100% coverage in all teaching areas and extend connectivity to its outdoor playing fields. The existing system struggled with signal quality and speed when multiple devices were used in proximity, hindering technology-based teaching. To address this, the school partnered with vendor Huawei and its partner UK IT Corp for a new solution.

The implemented Huawei solution included their eSight management platform, AC6605 controllers, and a series of indoor and outdoor access points. This new infrastructure provided seamless, reliable coverage everywhere on campus. The results were significant: teaching staff gained confidence in the system, leading to a marked increase in the use of mobile devices for lessons. The network manager also benefited from comprehensive reporting tools that provided valuable insights into network traffic, allowing for proactive management and eliminating previous bottlenecks.
