SGCC Protects Power Grid with Robust VCON

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), one of the world’s largest utilities, needed a more stable and higher-quality videoconferencing system to support emergency response across China’s power grid. Its legacy SD system was unstable, limited to low-resolution video, and lacked dual-stream and multi-channel capabilities, making it difficult to manage large conferences and respond effectively to disasters.

Huawei provided a robust emergency videoconferencing solution with fully redundant backup architecture for MCUs, links, boards, and terminals, plus 1080p video and compatibility with SGCC’s existing equipment. The Huawei system improved O&M efficiency, reduced setup time from hours to about 30 minutes, and enabled faster, clearer emergency coordination; SGCC also reported more than $156 million in travel cost savings from 1,123 conferences in one year.
