SGCC Picks Huawei to Upgrade Power Grid

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), the world’s largest state-owned electric utility, needed to upgrade its critical smart grid dispatching system while maintaining compatibility with its existing x86 server + Linux infrastructure. The challenge was to ensure extremely high security, reliability, and performance for the D5000 automated dispatching platform, which supports real-time telemetry, telecommand, and fast dispatch operations across the power grid.

Huawei worked with SGCC to implement a solution built around Tecal RH2485 V2 rack servers, Tecal E6000 Blade Server Chassis, and OceanStor S5600T storage. The upgraded platform improved security and compatibility, helped reduce maintenance costs by 30%, cut equipment footprint by 50%, and lowered energy consumption by 10%, while supporting SGCC’s demanding availability and performance requirements.
