Case Study: Southern Cross University achieves an agile, high-performance campus network with Huawei

A Huawei Case Study

SCU Teams with Huawei to Build an Agile Campus

Southern Cross University (SCU), an Australian public university with more than 15,000 students across multiple campuses, needed to replace an aging campus network that was over six years old. The old environment could not keep up with growing data traffic, expanding wireless usage, and the university’s increasing needs for teaching, research, and online services. SCU partnered with Huawei to address these challenges with an Agile Network Solution.

Huawei implemented an agile campus network using GE switches, 802.11ac access points, an S12700 Agile Switch, Super Virtual Fabric (SVF), and next-generation firewall integration. The new solution improved performance, simplified management through unified wired and wireless control, and created a more scalable and secure campus infrastructure. While no specific financial figures were given, Huawei’s upgrade delivered higher-speed connectivity, better capacity and resilience, and a future-ready foundation for SCU’s digital learning environment.
