A Huawei Case Study
Companhia de Concessões Rodoviárias (CCR), through its subsidiary SAMM, needed a high-capacity, highly reliable transmission network to serve 142 cities across São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Paraná. The company faced the challenge of building Brazil’s first fully subterranean data transmission network over more than 2,000 kilometers of underground fiber, requiring bandwidth, reach, and service flexibility. Huawei provided DWDM and Hybrid MSTP solutions to support this expansion.
Huawei implemented OSN 6800 DWDM and OSN 3500 Hybrid MSTP platforms across backbone and metropolitan rings, using ROADM and OTN technologies to deliver scalable transport and diversified interfaces. The network now supports 40 wavelengths at 40 Gbit/s, with a mix of 10 Gbit/s and 40 Gbit/s services, enabling new offerings such as Data SAMM and IP Corporate SAMM. As a result, SAMM achieved higher bandwidth, ultra-long-distance coverage, improved reliability, and easier operations, helping it serve 34% of Brazil’s demand.
