QE2: From Fast Cruise Ship to Elegant Hotel

Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2), the former iconic cruise ship now operating as a deluxe hotel in Dubai, needed to deliver strong in-room Wi‑Fi across a long, complex vessel with dense rooms, heavy sound insulation, and guest expectations for seamless Internet access. QE2 worked with Huawei to address coverage gaps, weak signal penetration, and the operational difficulties of traditional corridor- or indoor-based AP deployments using a Campus Network Solution and access networking products.

Huawei implemented a wall plate AP solution using AP2050DN gigabit 802.11ac Wave 2 access points, along with the eSight network management system for easier deployment and remote O&M. The result was better room-wide coverage, higher bandwidth for services like HD VOD and AR, faster installation, and less disruption to guests. Customer satisfaction increased by 60 percent, helping QE2 improve its reputation and unlock new service opportunities.
