A Huawei Case Study
Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych (ZUS), Poland’s social insurance agency, needed to modernize a large, distributed network serving more than 24 million citizens. With aging WAN routers and LAN switches, limited bandwidth for video and voice, no PoE or VoIP support, and rising maintenance costs, ZUS turned to Huawei for a comprehensive network upgrade.
Huawei implemented a unified, multi-service converged network using S-series LAN switches, AR-series access routers, IP PBXs, IPSec VPNs, WLANs, and firewalls. The new architecture improved bandwidth, enabled secure data/voice/video services, and simplified cabling with PoE, while hardware-based OAM/BFD enabled 10 ms fault detection. Huawei’s solution integrated new and legacy networks, improved O&M efficiency, reduced processing time, and supported a smooth upgrade from 1G to 10G.
