Case Study: Phoenix Satellite Television achieves a unified, cloud-based media data center with Huawei

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the Phoenix Satellite Television Case Study

Phoenix TV’s International Data Center Rises

Phoenix Satellite Television, a Hong Kong-based global Chinese-language broadcaster, needed to build a new international media center in Beijing with a modern IT backbone that could support TV production, office automation, enterprise applications, partner services, and global operations. To meet these demands without the delays, complexity, and low utilization of a traditional decentralized model, Phoenix TV partnered with Huawei to design an end-to-end ICT foundation for the media center, including cloud-ready infrastructure and secure convergence of office and production systems.

Huawei implemented a data center-oriented solution using modular equipment rooms, FusionSphere virtualization, cloud desktop services, and a secure production center to integrate IT resources on a single physical platform. The result was more than 30% shorter construction time, over 20% lower device procurement costs, server utilization rising from under 10% to over 60%, about 30% higher production efficiency, 30% lower desktop costs, a 50% reduction in IT maintenance staff needs, and a PUE of 1.5.
